Unit vectors?

Find the unit vecctor in the same direction as (8,15)?

Also help describe what a unit vector is.

A.(8/17,15/17)

B.(9,2)

C.(25,32)

Unit vectors?
A unit vector,v, is just a normalized vector such that it is orthonormal, ie ||v|| = 1.

First find ||v||, euclidean norm of v.

sqrt(8^2 + 15^2) = 17

Then divide each component by ||v||, v / ||v||

Therefore, (8/17,15/17), which corresponds to (A).
Reply:the answer is A. A unit vector has a magnitude of 1. The unit vector going in the opposite direction is (-8/17, -15/17)
